EVENT EXPERIENCE

Yoga is more than a physical practice - It transcends our physiology and impacts our psychology. It feels like a workout AND like therapy. But why? Although yoga is not psychotherapy, many aspects of the practice are therapeutic and can facilitate deep transformation beyond the physical body. Yoga is my Therapy is a workshop designed to teach you about the therapeutic aspects of a yoga practice, and how to incorporate them in your everyday life to support your mental wellness.

  • Discover why yoga is so effective at treating the most common mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression and chronic stress.
  • Learn the neuroscience behind breathwork and meditation that allows individuals to change their brain (physiology), and in doing so shift their mindset (psychology).
  • Understand what kind of yoga and breath practices will be most appropriate to address your specific mental health needs.
  • Explore research studies demonstrating how yoga and meditation are highly effective holistic interventions for mental health
  • Experience a yoga class focused on practicing therapeutic skills, including mindfulness and somatic psychology

This workshop is for the yoga practitioner who wants to learn how to support their mental health with both mind and body centered skills. The workshop is three hours long; two hours will be focused on lecture, and one hour will be focused on a practice.
